Transferring Google Data

Google Takeout’s Transfer service will copy your FCS Gmail and Drive contents to a personal Google Account. 

Please watch this instructional video or follow these step-by-step instructions:

  1. If you don’t already have one, create a personal Google account to transfer the files to
  2. Sign out that account
  3. Sign into your FCS Gmail account and go to takeout.google.com/transfer
  4. Enter the email address of the destination Google account (your personal Gmail – where the files will end up)
  5. Select Send code
  6. Check your personal Gmail for the confirmation email, and in that email select Get confirmation code. A new tab will open with the code.
  7. Return to takeout.google.com/transfer, enter the code, and click Verify
  8. Select the content you’d like to transfer, and then click Start transfer

Details about the transfer process

  • Your personal account automatically becomes the owner of the transferred files. A copy of these files will remain at FCS for 1 year after account deactivation.
  • Files owned by other users will not be transferred.
  • The copy process usually happens within a few hours, but it can take up to a week to complete.
  • Copied files might appear in batches in your personal Google Account during the copy process.
  • When your files are finished copying, you’ll get an email at your personal Gmail address. There will be a folder in your personal Google Drive containing your FCS Drive files.
